What's public and what's private

Updated

Nothing in Embrly is public by accident. A look reaches the web only if you shared it, a client consented to it, and you turned your page on. Miss any one of those and it stays yours. Here's the whole map.

On the web: Dashboard → Profile holds the switches. In the app: Settings → Your public page.

The two switches that decide everything

Publish my page opens embrly.app/@yourhandle to anyone with the link. Off by default; you can turn it off again whenever.

Show me on Discover additionally lists you on /discover and its specialty and city pages, so clients browsing for a look can find you. It turns on automatically once your page is published and you've shared three consented looks, and you can turn it off whenever you like.

Salons have their own pair: a Page link, and Show in Discover. Leave the page link blank and the salon has no public page at all.

What's on your public page

  • Your name, photo, bio and city
  • Your services, booking link, Instagram, TikTok and website
  • The brands you work with
  • Your shared, consented looks — tap one to flip to the before
  • Your Gems, and the facets on your looks
  • Your work history and the experience you entered yourself
  • Up to five "vibe" photos of you and your space — never client work, and never shown on Discover
  • Published client notes, with the client's first name only
  • Your kudos count

What's on a salon page

A salon page shows the banner and logo, city and socials, the products the salon uses, its vibe photos, and its team. A stylist appears on the roster only if they've switched on List me on the team roster, and links through only if their own page is published. Below that: the team's shared looks with service filter chips, published client notes, and — for a multi-location brand — an "Also at" row linking sibling locations.

A stylist can hide a specific look from the salon page while keeping it on their own. That's the one read in Embrly that honours it.

What never becomes public

  • Anything without client consent. Enforced at the database level, not in the interface. See Client consent.
  • Anything you haven't shared — drafts, captures you kept, work in progress.
  • The client name on a consent record. It's a private audit record. Only the first name from a client note is ever displayed.
  • Anything posted as "My own" while you're at a salon — off the salon's page and out of team stats.
  • Your saved looks. The Craft Book's Saved collection is private to you; the stylist whose work you saved is never told.
  • Hidden client notes. Hiding isn't deleting — the note stays in your list, it just leaves your page.
  • Your average ticket, caption voice samples, nudge settings and notification history.

What your salon owner can see

Participation and activity: who posted, how the week went, the looks that were shared, client notes, page views and booking taps for people on the roster. They never see your private or unconsented captures, and they never see per-stylist earnings — booked value is reported for the salon as a whole. That boundary is enforced in the database, not just hidden in the interface. Leaderboards rank consistency, never follower counts.

Search engines

Published stylist pages, discoverable salon pages, the Discover feed and its facet pages, the stylist and salon directories, and this help centre are all indexable — that's the point of them. Your dashboard, your notes page, join links, and every consent and note link a client scans are explicitly excluded from search engines and can't be found by browsing.
