Weekly themes and nudges
Updated
A theme is one thing for the whole team to shoot this week — "blondes", "fresh cuts", "Valentine's glam". Embrly delivers it, reminds people mid-week, and counts who took part. Stylists post from their own Instagram accounts, in their own voice; Embrly never posts for them and never reads their account.
On the web: Dashboard → Themes · In the app: Themes
Setting a theme (owners and managers)
The Themes page has three parts: This week, Scheduled, and the form to plan a week. A theme is:
- Title — up to 60 characters. This is what lands on everyone's phone.
- Brief — a sentence on the vibe.
- Hashtag pack — type words, Embrly formats them as tags.
- Post ideas — one per line. The mid-week nudge quotes the first one, so make it concrete: "Before/after balayage" beats "something good".
Use the arrows to pick the week. Weeks that already have a theme are flagged so you edit rather than double-book. The theme library underneath — In season now, Evergreen, Later this year — fills the form from a proven theme you can then make your own.
Plan several weeks in one sitting; after each save the form jumps to the next free week. Owners with more than one location also get Set for all locations.
How the week runs
All of these fire on your salon's clock, not the server's:
| When | What |
|---|---|
| Monday 8am | Owner digest — how many posted last week, top streak |
| Monday 9am | Theme launch to the team |
| Wednesday 6pm | Nudge to anyone who hasn't posted, with one post idea |
| Sunday 3pm | Streak reminder to anyone about to lose one |
Nudges are written in Embrly's voice, never the owner's — "You haven't posted this week — here's a 30-second idea." No one gets a push that reads like their boss is watching.
Nudge settings (stylists)
On the web: Settings → Notifications · In the app: Settings → Notifications
You control your own reminders: turn them off entirely, choose which days you'll accept them, and set quiet hours (9pm to 8am by default). There's no separate frequency dial because the schedule itself is the limit: each kind of nudge — the theme launch, the midweek idea, the streak check, your weekly page digest — arrives at most once a week, and your Daily Focus only on mornings you've planned. Days off and quiet hours always win.
How participation is counted
It's self-reported, on purpose. You capture the look, write the caption, and tap Share to Instagram. Embrly copies your caption and hands the photo to the Instagram app — you post it there. When you come back, it asks "Posted to Instagram?" and you tap Yes, I posted. That's what marks the week and keeps your streak.
Because that handoff is the whole story, Embrly can't see likes, followers, or whether you posted anything else. Nobody's account is connected or read. If you mark it and something goes wrong on Instagram's side, just repost — the record in Embrly is your word, not a scrape.
When you're on a team, the caption screen also asks Post as: Team or My own. "My own" keeps the look off the salon's Wins feed, page and team stats.
If nobody's posting
Two things usually fix a quiet week: a theme with real post ideas in it (the mid-week nudge is only as good as the first idea), and kudos. The dashboard shows who posted; a tapped kudos costs nothing and shows up as one voice from the salon, whether you sent it from the desk or the chair.
