The manager role

A manager runs a location day to day. It's a scoped role, not a second owner: managers handle the roster, the salon page, and the weekly themes, while anything to do with money or with the brand's structure stays with the owner.

Making someone a manager
Only the owner can do this, and there are two routes:
- Promote from the roster — find the stylist's row on the Team page and tap Make manager. Make stylist puts them back.
- Invite as a manager — the owner's Team page has an Invite a manager button next to Invite a stylist. The code carries the role, so whoever redeems it joins as a manager.
A manager keeps being a stylist too — they capture, post, keep a streak, and appear on the roster like everyone else.
What a manager can do
- See the dashboard for their location — participation, looks, reactions, new notes, page views, booking taps, the 8-week trend, the activity wall, the roster, and the top post of the week.
- Send kudos to the team.
- Invite and remove stylists.
- Edit the salon page — name, city, socials, brands, visibility, logo and header images.
- Plan weekly themes — write this week's theme, schedule future weeks, and use the theme library.
What stays owner-only
- Booked value. The money tile on the dashboard renders for owners only. Managers see every engagement number and no revenue.
- Billing. Plans, seats, invoices and the customer portal are the owner's.
- Roles. Only the owner can promote a stylist to manager, step a manager back, or remove a manager. A manager can't change anyone's role, including their own, and can't act on the owner's row.
- Brand structure. Adding a location, and anything that would move a salon in or out of a group, is owner-only.
These aren't just hidden buttons. Role changes and roster changes run through database functions that check the caller's role, so the limits hold no matter how the request is made.
The manager dashboard
A manager signing in at Dashboard lands on the same view an owner gets for the location they manage — minus the booked-value tile. If someone manages more than one location, a row of location chips appears at the top of the dashboard and the Team page for switching between them.
Managers reach Team and Salon settings from the dashboard header, exactly as an owner does.
Choosing a manager
The role earns its keep when you're not on the floor every day: the manager is the person who onboards new stylists, keeps the theme set, and answers "what are we posting this week?" You still see everything they see. Nothing about the role gives anyone extra visibility into stylists' personal accounts — Embrly never reads them.
On mobile
Managers can run the team from the app: Settings → Team gives them the same invite, remove and role-aware roster. The full KPI dashboard is a web surface for managers today.
