Sharing to Instagram

Embrly posts to Instagram the same way you would: it hands the photo and the caption to your phone, and you finish the post in the Instagram app. Embrly never signs in to Instagram on your behalf and never asks for your Instagram password. Your account stays yours.

What happens when you tap Share to Instagram

1. Your caption is copied to your clipboard. Instagram does not let another app fill in a caption for you, so Embrly puts it where one paste can reach it.
2. Embrly builds the image. If the look has both a before and an after, you get a single before/after image — side-by-side or top-bottom, whichever layout you picked. If only the after is available, it shares the after on its own.
3. Your phone's share sheet opens. This is the standard iOS/Android sheet. Pick Instagram from it, and Instagram takes over.
4. Paste your caption in Instagram, then post as usual.
5. Come back to Embrly. You will see a screen asking Posted to Instagram? with Yes, I posted and Not yet.

That last step matters. The share sheet cannot tell Embrly whether you actually went through with the post, so nothing counts until you say so. Tapping Yes, I posted is what records the look as shared, keeps your streak alive, and counts toward your salon's week. Not yet takes you back to your caption with nothing lost.

"Connected" vs "not connected"

You may notice Embrly describing your Instagram as not connected. That is not an error, and nothing is broken. It is simply the state Embrly ships in: the share-sheet handoff works for every account, connected or not, because it never touches Instagram's API.

Connected is a future mode. When it arrives, Embrly will be able to detect your post automatically and pull your reach and likes into your wins, so you stop self-reporting. That mode depends on Instagram's rules, and Instagram only allows it for free professional accounts — Creator or Business, either works identically for Embrly. The app has an Instagram setup screen that walks through switching over in about a minute. Doing it now means verified mode lights up for you on day one; skipping it changes nothing about how sharing works today.

When a share doesn't go through

The share sheet never opened, and you saw "Sharing isn't available on this device." Your device could not open the system share sheet. Close and reopen Embrly and try again; if it persists on the same phone, tell us at hello@embrly.app.

You got a message about consent. A look cannot go public without a consent record from the person in the chair. Open the look, add consent, and share again — or keep the look private to you. Nothing is lost either way.

Instagram opened but the caption wasn't there. The caption is on your clipboard, not attached to the photo. Long-press the caption field in Instagram and choose Paste. If your clipboard was overwritten in between, go back to Embrly and tap Share again — the caption is re-copied.

Instagram isn't in the share sheet. Make sure the Instagram app is installed and signed in on that phone; you may need to scroll the app row or tap "More".

You posted, but forgot to confirm. Nothing broke; the look just isn't counted yet. Open the look again, share it, and confirm.

What Embrly can and can't see

Embrly cannot read your Instagram account, your followers, your DMs, or your other posts. It has no login to your account and no permission on it. Participation on Embrly is what you tell it, and that is deliberate — the product is built to keep your team aligned, not to audit anyone's personal account.
