Getting started for stylists
Updated
Embrly is an app for the work you already do: shoot the before and after, get a caption that sounds like you, share it to your own Instagram, and let your page and your numbers build themselves. This walks you through signing in, the five things at the bottom of the screen, and a first week that actually sticks.
In the app: everything below happens on your phone. Your public page lives on the web at embrly.app.
Signing in
There is no password. Open the app, type your email, and tap Email me a sign-in link. Tap the link in the email on the same phone and you're in.
If the link is awkward — you're on a work phone, the email opened on a laptop, a scanner rewrote it — tap Got a code instead? Enter it and type the six-digit code from the same email. The screen also offers Resend the link (after a short cooldown) and Use a different email if you typed it wrong.
If your salon owner sent you an invite link, open that link instead. It signs you in and drops you into your salon in one move.
The five tabs
- Home — your day. This week's theme if you're on a team, your Daily Focus card, and your recent work. Two small buttons float at the top: the scissors (top left) opens the Craft Book, and the gear (top right) opens Settings.
- Gallery — your work. My Shelf is everything you've captured, grouped by month. If you're on a team you also get Team Wins, the feed of what your salon has been sharing.
- The capture button (the round one in the middle) — the camera. This is the whole point of the app; it's centered for a reason.
- My Brief — the app talking to you: new themes, weekly digests, kudos, client notes, streak reminders. A badge shows unread items.
- My Chair — your numbers and your Gems. Week stats, streak, shared looks, kudos, client notes, and whether clients are finding you.
Your first week
Day one — capture one look. Don't set anything up first. Tap the capture button, shoot a before, do the hair, shoot the after. If you forgot the before, tap Skip and shoot the after alone. Add a Service tag, turn on Client consent if your client is happy to be shown, and tap Save to my work.
Day one, part two — write a caption. After you save, you land on the caption screen. Pick a Tone, tap Generate captions, and swipe the options. Tap one to use it, edit it however you like, then Share to Instagram.
Day two — add your voice. Open Settings (the gear on Home) → Caption voice samples and paste in a handful of captions you've already written. Every caption after that follows your own rhythm instead of a generic one.
Day three — set up your page. Add a bio, your services, and your booking link, then turn on Publish my page. Now the looks you share have somewhere to live, and you have a link for your Instagram bio.
Day four — plan a month in twenty minutes. Open Daily Focus from the Home card and fill in the days you work. It repeats on a four-week cycle, so you do this once.
The rest of the week — keep it going. Sharing at least one look in a week keeps your streak alive — solo or on a team; miss a whole week and it resets to one. Consistency is what the Gems and the leaderboards reward — never follower counts.
If something's off
Photos you take are saved to the device as soon as you shoot them, so a look in progress survives a phone restart or an app update — a colour service that runs four hours won't lose its before. If a photo won't upload, check your connection and try again from Gallery; nothing is thrown away.
