The Craft Book

The Craft Book is where you study other people's work. Real before-and-afters from artists on Embrly, filterable down to the technique you're trying to get better at, with a bookmark on every card so the ones that stop you keep.

It is not a client feed and it is not a scroll to kill time in. It's a reference shelf.

Browse and Saved

Two segments across the top:

• Browse — the pool of consented, shared work from artists across Embrly.
• Saved — only what you've bookmarked, newest save first.

Every card is a before/after flip card. You see the after; tap it and it flips to the before, tagged BEFORE so there's no guessing which is which. The stylist's name sits along the bottom.

To save a look, tap the bookmark in the top-right corner of the card. Tap it again to unsave. Pull down on the list to refresh — newly shared work and saves made elsewhere show up.

You will not find salons here, and there's no messaging or following. The Craft Book is deliberately about the work, not about poaching.

Craft filters

The Filters button opens a sheet grouped by the four-plus dimensions Embrly uses to describe a look:

• Technique — balayage, babylights, color melt, corrective, layered cut, updo, extensions, and so on.
• Services — the add-on work: brow shaping and tinting, facial waxing, smoothing treatments, toppers.
• Color — blonde, brunette, copper, rooted/dimensional, gray/silver, pastel, vivid, and the rest.
• Texture — straight, wavy, curly, coily, braided.
• Length — pixie, short, bob/lob, medium, long, extra long.

Pick one value per dimension. Dimensions combine, so balayage plus curly shows balayage on curly hair — which is exactly the question you actually have when you're trying to learn something.

Your active picks ride along the filter bar as chips; tap the × on one to drop it, or Clear all in the sheet to start over. The button at the bottom of the sheet tells you how many looks match before you commit: Show 14 looks.

Only dimensions with at least two values in the current pool appear as filters, so you never scroll through a category with a single option in it.

Where the tags come from

You don't tag anything. When a look is shared with client consent, Embrly reads the photo and assigns its facets automatically from a fixed vocabulary. That's why the filters are consistent across thousands of looks instead of depending on whether each stylist remembered to type "balayage."

Two consequences worth knowing:

• A brand-new look may briefly have no facets. It still appears under the unfiltered list; it just won't match a dimension filter until it's been tagged.
• Only transformations are here. Product and process shots build your own page but don't enter the Craft Book, and they aren't auto-tagged — the vocabulary describes hair, so it would only produce confident nonsense on a shelf shot.

Getting your own work in front of others

Your shared transformations join the pool other artists study once two things are true: the look has a client consent record, and either your own page is published or your salon is set to be discoverable. Turning on Publish my page is usually all that's missing — see the article on your portfolio and handle. Your own looks never show up in your Browse tab; you already have them in Gallery.
